Having recently held a meeting with officers overseeing the Rosendale Playing Fields fence proposal the timetable for residents to respond to the planning application is still on track. This means December 2017.

Quietway 7 is part of a network of proposed quieter, low-traffic routes across London designed to make cycling and walking safer and more pleasant. The proposed Quietway 7 runs from Elephant & Castle to Crystal Palace, with the Lambeth section running through Thurlow Park and Gipsy Hill wards.
We have consistently sought to ensure residents and local businesses have the opportunity to input into the design of the Quietway – pushing officers and TfL to withdraw plans for an experimental road closure and organising events, workshops and online questionnaires over the last two years. Recently, we were concerned that a decision had been made without some key changes residents asked for being implemented, and without any further opportunities for the local community to engage.
We therefore got this decision reversed, and over the summer we organised a number of meetings with groups such as the local businesses and the allotments with officers and designers, as well as a public meeting in each ward and meetings with individual residents who have requested them, and some changes have been made to accommodate concerns raised. Where changes we wanted to be made weren’t able to be accommodated by designers, we escalated to a meeting with the London Cycling and Walking Commissioner to make sure residents’ voices were heard at the highest possible level.

We have also organised an event in the afternoon of Saturday 21 October at All Saints Church. This is to ensure residents have further opportunities to discuss the designs with councillors and look at hard copies of the plans.

The Old Library West Norwood which currently delivers the West Norwood library service, has temporarily closed from Tuesday 3rd to Thursday 26th October whilst Rathbone carries out some refurbishing works.
Drop boxes are available on site for returned items which will be collected on a daily basis by library service couriers and discharged at other libraries.
Black History Month and other planned events at the library has been moved to other libraries including the Upper Norwood Library. Users and members of the public have been informed via libraries website, leaflets and social media.

Streetworks cycling consultation recently came to an end.
Cyclist’s had contact the Streetworks team to talk about ways in which the road by Ira Court could be made safer as it was proving difficult for them to cycle along this stretch of road due to the new position of the car parking bays. The bays were pushing cyclists further out into the traffic.
As a community project Streetworks investigated this concern and one of the ideas that came forward from the consultation was to create car parking bays in between the trees – ensuring that walkers still have lots of space on the pavement, and cyclists aren’t being pushed out into traffic.
The idea has now been modelled and though car parking spaces will have to be reduced form 8 to 6 it is felt this is a positive compromise in order to ensure that cyclists remain safe on the roads.

The newly implemented CPZ’s will be going live on Monday 2 October 2017.

The majority of the onsite lining and signing works are complete, bar a few issues that are currently being tidied up. Due to the large nature of the CPZ there may be some other issues that come to light in the early phase of the implementation so please keep us posted and we’ll pass on all relevant information so any teething concerns can be resolved accordingly.

Notive was recently given that the Council made the provision for “electronic”, paperless forms of resident’s permits, business permits, visitor’s permits, trade permits, teacher’s permits, primary care trust permits, doctor’s permits and car club permits, to be introduced as a method of recording payment of parking charges for the use of on-street parking and for the method of payment to be on-line.
E-parking or paperless parking means that instead of the vehicle displaying a parking permit made of paper or card (a hard-copy permit) the registration mark of the vehicle in respect of which a parking permit has been granted will be held on record by the Council and that record will be accessed electronically by civil enforcement officers to determine whether a parking permit has been granted. At first, e-parking permits will be available in addition to the existing hard-copy parking permits but they will replace those permits over time.

Lambeth Council has recently sent a Household Enquiry Form to every household in Lambeth in order to check the right people are registered to vote. This is part of the national annual canvass undertaken by the Electoral Commission.
As a resident you would need to sign and send the form back to confirm all is correct or to update the details if changes are necessary.

The 4all Autumn Fair is an annual fixture in the Thurlow Park diary – a great afternoon of activities, community groups, craft stalls, music, games for children and a BBQ, tea and cake. It takes place at All Saints Church on Lovelace Road from 2-5pm on Saturday 23rd September.
Your local councillors will be at the Fair to listen to your ideas and concerns for the local area, and to provide any support or advice you may need.
We have been very concerned about the state of the plot of derelict land on the corner of Deronda Road and Norwood Road. While planning permission was granted for 4 new flats (Ref: 16/05859/FUL), all that seems to have happened is a dangerous demolition job. We are unhappy that it blocks the pavement and that the rubble and dumped rubbish is open, unsafe and unsightly.
We have made regular complaints to officers in planning enforcement regarding this site, and are pleased to share that we have been successful in getting a s215 notice issued. This is a legal notice forcing the land owner to clear the waste, rubbish and debris from the site; to secure the side and rear access with proper hoarding; and to maintain the land in a tidy and safe condition.
While we are waiting for the landowner to take action following the legal notice, we have worked with the Highways department to get temporary safety barriers put up around the site.
Please continue to send any concerns to us – we will continue to raise this issue until we are satisfied that the landowner has taken all necessary steps.
